Discuss/correct answers
Receive grade printout for current Q2 (updated grades were input over Winter Break)—students earning 76% or lower (C+) must obtain a parent signature and return grade printout tomorrow, or I will call home.
Discuss “resolutions” and complete resolution/goal handout
HW:
Word Wisdom pages 90-92 due Wednesday; 93-94 due Thursday
Prepare for 30-word posttest on Friday over Unit 4
Crash character sketch rewrites due this Friday!

Copy HW into agenda
What is/are today’s objective(s)?
Distribute and discuss how to complete “The Great Debate” –Poll Peers, Parents & other Professionals’ responses on issues like Coke vs. Pepsi; Vanilla vs. Chocolate; Warm weather vs. Cold—ask them to provide at least one reason “for” their choice and one reason “against” their choice. Choose/make you own 2 additional “issues” as well.
Allow 5-10 minutes for students to begin questioning their peers
Distribute SCOPE magazine and read “Did you really just post that photo?”
Discuss in depth—Does the internet have enough privacy settings? Why or why not?
Put yourself in your parents shoes—would YOU allow your 13-year-old son/daughter to have a Facebook page? Why or why not?
Complete accompanying handout to organize persuasive appeals.
HW:
“The Great Debate” handout due tomorrow-- Poll Peers, Parents & other Professionals’ responses
WW pgs 90-92 due tomorrow; 93-94 due Thursday; 30 word posttest due Friday.
While checking Word Wisdom HW, students may use this time to finish their "Great Debate" handouts from Tuesday OR complete Part B (writing a thesis) on their "Is there enough online privacy?" Reflective essay packet from Tuesday OR work on Word Wisdom pages 92-93 due tomorrow.
Distribute the handout that says "Persuasive Writing- 7th grade ELA" and instruct students to:
Take out "Great Debate" handout and assign groups of 2 or 3 students--they may temporarily move desks to work together more easily.
Read & follow directions on the “Persuasive Writing” handout and begin. Students may not have enough time in class to finish and that's ok--don't collect any of the work. Bring it back to class the next day. If anyone DOES finish early, they may quiz each other on the 30 words for this Friday's Word wisdom quiz.
HW:
Pages 92-93 in Word Wisdom due tomorrow;
